In Bishkek, a former obstetrician-gynecologist from one of the city's clinics has been detained by the October District Police Department. The 61-year-old woman, identified as A.B., is suspected of being involved in the sale of children.

Earlier, a newborn baby died in a Bishkek maternity house. The General Prosecutor's Office accused the staff of the Child Rehabilitation and Family Support Center of negligence. A case of negligence has been initiated against the responsible individuals from the October District Police Department and social services, who took the baby from the mother and transferred him to the maternity house.

In response, the director of the Child Rehabilitation and Family Support Center informed that the child had been in the care of an unauthorized woman for four months without medical supervision and had not received any vaccinations. Furthermore, it was revealed that the woman had purchased the baby for $3,400.

"It has been established that the suspect and several others organized the trafficking of children. A case has been initiated under the article of child trafficking of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic," stated the police.

The October District Court remanded the medic in pre-trial detention. The investigation is ongoing.
