Former Deputy Head of the Antimonopoly Service Akzholtoy Tukunov has been lawfully detained and taken into custody. This was announced by the press service of the Chui Region Main Directorate of Internal Affairs.

The department recalled that on April 17, 2024, in the Alamadin district, citizen T.A., born in 1981, was detained and placed in a temporary detention facility.

He has been charged under Article 278 of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic for "Mass Riots, Calls for Active Non-Compliance with the Lawful Demands of Authorities, Mass Riots, as well as Calls for Violence against Citizens."

A motion has been submitted to the court to verify the legality and validity of the detention and the imposition of a measure of restraint in the form of Tukunov's detention.

However, despite the seriousness of the crime, the court deemed the detention of Akzholtoy Tukunov unlawful and imposed a measure of restraint in the form of a travel ban until June 16.

"The District Prosecutor's Office appealed to the Chui Regional Court against the ruling of the investigative judge of the Alamadin district dated April 19, 2024, declaring the detention of T.A. unlawful and unfounded, requesting its cancellation and the lawful and justified arrest of T.A., as well as the imposition of a measure of restraint in the form of detention at Facility No. 21 of the State Penitentiary Service," noted the Main Directorate of Internal Affairs.

On April 26, the judicial panel on criminal cases and cases of administrative offenses considered the appeal and ruled the detention of citizen T.A. as lawful and justified. He was placed in pre-trial detention center-1 until June 17.
