In one of the prisons in the country, four convicts were detained for selling drugs in correctional facilities. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic.
According to the information, among the detainees was a so-called "authority" in criminal circles.
"Information was received at the Main Directorate for the Execution of Punishments of the Ministry of Internal Affairs that one of the inmates of the penal institution SIZO organized a channel for the sale of drugs among those serving their sentences. A criminal case has been initiated under the article 'Illegal manufacture of drugs, psychotropic substances, and their analogs for the purpose of sale' of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic. Law enforcement officers and penitentiary service employees purchased 19 hashish bricks in the prison," the statement said.
The authorities added that based on incontrovertible evidence, a 30-year-old man who already served his sentence has been detained, who has the status of an "authority" in criminal circles. He was transferred from the correctional facility to the pre-trial detention center of the Main Directorate of the Interior Ministry of Bishkek. Charges have been brought against him.
In addition, three more convicts have been detained and transferred to the pre-trial detention center. The investigation is ongoing.
