Importance of Health Insurance in Kyrgyzstan

in Society / Kyrgyzstan - by

The Mandatory Health Insurance Fund reminds all citizens of Kyrgyzstan that having health insurance and a referral from a family doctor are necessary for planned hospitalization. In case of absence of insurance, patients pay for treatment ranging from 8,400 to 14,310 soms (the maximum co-payment amount).

For insured individuals, depending on the department profile (therapy or surgery) or national centers, the payment ranges from 840 to 1,090 soms to 1,160 to 1,510 soms (average co-payment amount).

Those belonging to the insured category include working citizens with contributions to mandatory health insurance, individuals with OMS policies, members of agricultural households, pensioners up to 70 years, children aged 6 to 16, officially registered unemployed, students, military personnel, and those receiving monthly social benefits.

To check their insurance status, individuals can contact the Family Medicine Center, use the "Tunduk" portal, visit the OMS Fund website, call the 24/7 hotline 113, or use the mobile applications "FOMS," "Tunduk," and MBANK.

Emergency medical assistance is provided free of charge to all citizens, including medication and medical supplies, until the patient's life and health-threatening condition is stabilized.
