President Sadyr Japarov laid the capsule for the construction of the new "Ak-Kula" hippodrome in the western part of Bishkek. He emphasized that the new hippodrome will host various equestrian games such as at-chabysh, jorgo salysh, kok-boru, and kyz kuumai. Japarov highlighted the significance of the hippodrome as a symbol of national value and an integral part of Kyrgyz traditions and heritage.
The modern hippodrome is envisioned to be a cultural and sports center that will not only impress Kyrgyzstanis but also foreigners, increasing their interest in horses and equestrian sports. The facility will have a seating capacity of 10,000 with the main arena accommodating 20,000 spectators, spanning over 200 hectares of land. Japarov assured that city residents will not face inconvenience during large events, emphasizing the importance of harmonizing the hippodrome with the daily lives of citizens.
The hippodrome complex will be multifunctional, featuring a shopping center, hotel, shops, and cafes, ensuring year-round operation. Safety measures for visitors attending equestrian games will also be implemented. Auxiliary buildings such as barns, workshops, a veterinary hospital, and a quarantine zone will be constructed.
President Japarov personally observed the final games of the republican kok-boru tournament in celebration of Nowruz. Previously, it was reported that the property complex of the old "Ak-Kula" hippodrome is being auctioned off.
