Relatives of the 13-year-old girl assaulted in Sokuluk met with the leadership of the Chui Region Police Department. Following the meeting, the investigator assigned to the case was replaced. A new female investigator has been appointed, as reported by a family member of the victim, Bakyt. He provided details of the incident.
According to the relative, the girl comes from a stable family where both parents work, and they have several children. When asked why the parents did not notice the violence against their daughter for nine months, the relative explained that the child was introverted. The girl was found in a hotel in Sokuluk 20 days after her disappearance. During a conversation with social workers and juvenile inspectors, she confessed and showed bruised hands.
Bakyt noted that the previous investigator kept the progress of the investigation secret. The new investigator has actively started conducting inquiries. The family has been living in Sokuluk since 2022, and the suspects are local residents.
Meanwhile, the head of the NGO "League for the Protection of Children's Rights," Nazgul Turdubekova, announced a fundraiser to support the family of the assaulted girl. The family is facing difficulties and is in need of temporary housing.
On March 20, it was revealed that the parents of the assaulted girl met with a human rights defender to seek protection for their child, as law enforcement agencies were not taking action against the perpetrators. The parents reported that their 13-year-old daughter had been systematically assaulted by nine men for almost a year. Two suspects were arrested yesterday in connection with the case and placed in temporary detention for 48 hours.
The community is urged to support the family in seeking justice and holding the perpetrators accountable.
