The XI International Youth Film Forum "Umud" will be held in Kyrgyzstan from March 28 to 31, as announced by its organizers. This annual event aims to support the creativity of talented young people and promote the professional growth of young cinematographers, with the support of the Department of Cinematography and the Intergovernmental Fund for Humanitarian Cooperation of the CIS member states.
In 2024, the forum will be dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the People's Artist of the Kyrgyz Republic, documentary filmmaker Bekesh Abdyldaev, under the slogan "For the Demand of Descendants with Love." The program will include screenings of short films, award-winning films, and participants of international film festivals, as well as short public presentations of film projects, master classes, and lectures by film experts.
An international film festival fair will also take place, where producers and program directors from CIS countries will discuss their events and participation conditions. The forum will open with screenings of short films "For the Demand of Descendants" by director Aliman Toktogulova and "The Garden" by director Bekesh Abdyldaev at the Ala-Too cinema.
On the final day of the forum, a memorial evening for film director Bekesh Abdyldaev will be held at the Chingiz Aitmatov House of Cinema. The closing ceremony will take place in the grand hall of "Olo-Yourt," where participants of the XI International Forum will be awarded diplomas and certificates.
