In a recent announcement by the Ministry of Health press center, three departments of the Republican Clinical Infectious Diseases Hospital have successfully completed renovation works and are now ready to admit patients. The hospital's chief physician, Gulzhigit Aaliyev, highlighted that in November 2023, six departments were closed for renovations with the initial plan to finish by May.
"We requested the renovation of three departments with a total of 100 beds, and today we have started admitting patients. Previously, our patients were being distributed to other hospitals," stated Aaliyev.
The authorities specified that these departments will now admit patients with acute gastrointestinal infections, acute respiratory viral diseases, scarlet fever, tonsillitis, and enteroviral infections. The building, constructed in 1989, had never undergone major renovations, leading to outdated and malfunctioning systems. The recent upgrades include the complete renovation of sewage pipes, water supply, and power supply systems. Additionally, each ward is now equipped with a ventilation system, meeting the mandatory requirements for infection control.
The renovation works are part of the "Emergency Response to COVID-19" project funded by the World Bank.
