Measles Cases on the Rise in Kyrgyzstan

The deputy minister of health, Ayjamal Shambetova, reported an increase in measles cases at the Social Policy Committee of the Jogorku Kenesh. Compared to 7,500 cases last year, there are now over 6,000 cases.

Shambetova assured that there are no issues with vaccines, with 61% of the population in the Jalal-Abad region already vaccinated. Three departments are dedicated to measles treatment at the infectious disease hospital.

Gulzhigit Aaliyev, the director of the Republican Infectious Diseases Hospital, mentioned that 40-60 people seek medical help for measles at the facility. Aaliyev highlighted that the measles situation remains severe, with children in critical condition being hospitalized while others are treated at home.

Currently, 210 measles patients are receiving treatment in seven departments of the infectious disease hospital, as stated by Gulzhigit Aaliyev.
