in Society / Kyrgyzstan - by

The Chui regional police department responded to statements made by Elvira Surabaldiyeva, a deputy of the Jogorku Kenesh, who expressed outrage during a parliamentary session over the accusation of a 13-year-old rape victim in Sokuluk of being morally corrupt.

The police department confirmed that a criminal case has been initiated regarding the rape of the 13-year-old girl in the Sokuluk district. The suspects, individuals born in 2004 and 2005, are currently in custody. The case has been forwarded to court with charges of rape and sexual actions with a minor under 16 years old.

Investigative actions are ongoing for other individuals involved in the case, with separate proceedings initiated.

The police department stressed that allegations of inaction by law enforcement officers are unfounded, as the crime was promptly identified and investigated by the Sokuluk district police, following legal procedures.

Deputy Elvira Surabaldiyeva raised concerns about the rape of the 13-year-old girl in Sokuluk during the parliamentary session, condemning the assault and expressing dismay over the lack of protection for minors.

The parents of the victim sought assistance from lawyer Jamila Jamambayeva on March 20, feeling that law enforcement authorities were not taking sufficient measures to hold the perpetrators accountable for their actions.
