The Prosecutor's Office of Chui Oblast has issued a response to parliament member Elvira Surabaldiyeva's comments during a parliamentary session concerning the rape of a 13-year-old girl in Sokuluk district.
Surabaldiyeva expressed dismay at the victim being unfairly labeled as promiscuous by her peers and questioned the oversight of the Prosecutor's Office. She highlighted the need to safeguard underage girls from older men.
The supervisory body confirmed that the Sokuluk district Prosecutor's Office conducted a comprehensive investigation, resulting in the arrest of the suspects, M.T. (born in 2005) and T.D. (born in 2004).
An indictment has been approved following the investigation, and the case has been forwarded to the district court for review. Materials related to additional suspects have been separated into a distinct proceeding and transferred to the Chui Oblast Police Department.
Ongoing scrutiny of the investigation is being carried out by the regional Prosecutor's Office, with specific directives issued by the prosecutor for continuous oversight of serious criminal cases.
Reports on March 20th indicated that the parents of the minor rape victim sought legal assistance from lawyer Jamila Jamanbaeva to advocate for their child's rights. They expressed frustration with the perceived inaction of law enforcement in holding the perpetrators accountable for the prolonged abuse suffered by their 13-year-old daughter.
