Bishkek Lifts State of Emergency as Cleanup Continues After Severe Windstorm

As of April 4th, the state of emergency in the capital has been lifted, as announced by the city hall. It was reminded that on March 28th, wind speeds in Bishkek reached 18-26 meters per second, leading to the declaration of a state of emergency. The city's Civil Defense authorities were promptly notified, and commissions and municipal services worked diligently in their respective areas.

Mobile groups comprising district administrations, city services, and municipal enterprises were organized and operated in an intensified mode. By the morning of March 29th, obstacles on roads in the capital had been cleared, and public transportation was back to normal operation.

The windstorm in Bishkek resulted in 10 injuries, with 144 fallen trees and 13 damaged vehicles recorded. The roofs of 101 buildings were damaged, including 37 social facilities and 54 residential homes. Trolleybus lines were affected on four sections, and 10 areas experienced disruptions in external lighting lines.

In response to the emergency situation, 31 pieces of special equipment and 143 workers from "Tazalyk" Municipal Enterprise were mobilized, with an additional 21 units of equipment from "Bishkezkelenstroy." Furthermore, 12 brigades from the Eastern Regional Electric Networks and 10 brigades from the Northern Regional Electric Networks were engaged in the cleanup efforts.

According to the assessments by the city hall's Civil Defense commissions, the estimated damage caused by the windstorm amounts to 16,749,923 soms.
