The annual international "Clean Mountains" campaign, aimed at raising awareness about the issue of littering mountainous natural areas and promoting an eco-friendly lifestyle, has launched in Russia, Kyrgyzstan, and Kazakhstan until November 15. The announcement was made on the website of one of the campaign's organizers - the Katun Biosphere Reserve (Russia).
Participants are invited to organize and conduct a cleanup of mountainous areas or adjacent areas from household waste. Afterwards, they are encouraged to publish a photo report on social networks with the obligatory hashtag #CleanMountains2024. In addition, within the campaign, participants can independently organize and conduct environmental awareness events aimed at promoting waste management culture among the population.
The campaign, initiated by the Katun Reserve in 2020, has brought together hundreds of concerned citizens from the Altai Republic, East Kazakhstan, and Naryn regions. Last year, over 3,000 people took part in it. In total, volunteers organized 43 environmental clean-up missions, collecting and disposing of 109 cubic meters of waste.
At the end of the campaign, the most active participants will be awarded diplomas and prizes from the organizers. Traditionally, the award ceremony will be held on International Mountain Day, noted the reserve.
