Kyrgyz lawmaker Aisuluu Mamashova proposed inviting Ministry of Health officials to the Social Policy Committee meeting due to the recent surge in measles cases. Mamashova highlighted over 3,000 cases in 2023 and around 2,000 in the first two months of 2024.
She expressed concern over measles-related fatalities among children, attributed partly to religious activists opposing vaccination efforts. Mamashova called for the involvement of muftiate representatives to discuss vaccination campaigns and emphasized the need to boost immunization against the disease, citing nine child deaths from measles the previous year.
