During a session of the Social Policy Committee of the Jogorku Kenesh, deputy Eldar Abakirov revealed that one in four children in Kyrgyzstan is born out of wedlock. He highlighted the increase in divorces, with 210 divorces per 1,000 families in 2018 rising to 253 in 2022. Abakirov expressed concern over men shirking their paternal responsibilities, leading to a deteriorating trend in statistics each year. The deputies were reviewing a draft law on amending certain legislative acts regarding the regulation of alimony obligations in the first reading.
