Tuberculosis Detected in Kyrgyz School, Shifted to Online Learning

In Bishkek, at School-Gymnasium No. 67, tuberculosis was found among students, leading to the temporary transition of the second shift to online learning.

According to them, specialists from the Center for State Sanitary and Epidemiological Surveillance conducted a sanitary treatment of all premises.

The city hall confirmed the information, stating that on March 7, a sanitary prescription was issued to the school regarding the detection of tuberculosis in a student. The school administration held a parent meeting with the class in question, attended by a local medical worker.

The school has shifted to two-day online learning starting from March 11. Disinfection measures were carried out on March 12. The school administration is monitoring the students and teachers who had contact with the infected student to ensure they undergo X-ray examinations.

Preliminary data from the National Phthisiology Center indicates a decrease in tuberculosis incidence among children in Kyrgyzstan, with a rate of 11.9 cases per 100,000 population, down from 14.5 in 2022. However, among teenagers, the rate has increased to 41.2 per 100,000 population compared to 29.8 in 2022.
