Kyrgyz Parliament member Mederbek Aliev has proposed the establishment of Father's Day in Kyrgyzstan. The corresponding draft resolution has been put up for public discussion.
According to the parliamentarian, the initiative aims to recognize the role and contribution of fathers in the development of society, with a focus on strengthening families and increasing the responsibility of men within the family.
Aliev emphasizes the Kyrgyz people's deep-rooted traditions of respecting and honoring fathers, highlighting the importance of their role in raising children, family cohesion, and societal progress. He underlines that fathers play a crucial role in shaping children's personalities, fostering social skills and values in them.
The proposed law project aims to underline and acknowledge the role of fathers, providing them with the opportunity to feel deep gratitude and appreciation from their children, families, and society. Additionally, it seeks to promote fathers' involvement in child-rearing and dispel stereotypes that caregiving is solely the mother's responsibility.
Aliev notes that Father's Day is celebrated in many countries worldwide and suggests marking it on March 15th in Kyrgyzstan.
