Medical Community in Kyrgyzstan Calls for Unified Clinical Recommendations Following Tragic Incident

in Society / Kyrgyzstan - by

The lack of unified clinical recommendations in Kyrgyzstan regarding cases such as anaphylactic shock, which can occur in anyone due to any medication, has come under scrutiny. In an appeal to the president, chairman of the Supreme Court, head of the GKNB, prosecutor general, and minister of internal affairs, the medical community highlighted the unpredictable and complex nature of the human body. They emphasized that while minor procedures can sometimes lead to tragic outcomes, domestic doctors save hundreds of lives daily, albeit often unnoticed by society.

The recent high-profile case involving the unfortunate death of a 3-year-old girl during a dental operation has shed light on the vulnerability of healthcare professionals in the country. The doctors stress the need for a fair investigation into the criminal case, urging authorities to ensure the legality and validity of the charges brought against the medical workers involved. They also request personal oversight from the authorities in handling the case, advocating for measures other than imprisonment, as no one intended to cause severe harm to the patient.

Initially opened under Article 146 of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic for "Improper Performance of Professional Duties by Medical or Pharmaceutical Workers," the criminal case later saw the anesthesiologist charged under Article 130, which deals with intentional infliction of serious harm to health. Furthermore, the director of the KMA medical center, where the girl passed away, has been detained and is currently in pre-trial detention.
