Security forces in Tajikistan have arrested 15 residents of Dushanbe and Vahdat suspected of planning terrorist attacks during festive events in the capital and the city of Vahdat. The news was confirmed by a source in the State Committee for National Security (GKNB) to "Asia-Plus".
Earlier today, a source from "Asia-Plus" in law enforcement agencies reported the detention of 9 residents of Vahdat for their connection to suspects in the terrorist attack at "Crocus City Hall" in Moscow and collaboration with ISIS.
The majority of those arrested are residents of Vahdat, all apprehended by GKNB officers and transported to Dushanbe before the celebration of Navruz. It is unknown whether the 15 detainees are linked to the suspects in the Moscow attack, which resulted in the death of 143 people and injuries to hundreds.
The investigation will determine if the detainees were associated with the suspects. It is yet to be established if they were part of the same chain of command or acted individually in planning attacks in Russia and Tajikistan.
