Visa Regime to Turkey for Tajik Citizens to be Implemented from April 20

in Politics / Tajikistan - by

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan announced that starting from April 20, Tajik citizens will need visas to travel to Turkey. This decision was made after Turkey officially notified Tajikistan through diplomatic channels on April 6.

Previously, Tajik citizens could enter Turkey visa-free and stay for up to 90 days. However, last week, Turkey revoked the visa-free regime for Tajik citizens, with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan signing the directive. The announcement was published in the official government gazette, Resmi gazete, and took effect immediately.

On April 6, the Tajik Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that they had not received any prior notification from Turkey regarding the introduction of the visa regime. The Ministry emphasized that according to international practice, Turkey should have informed Tajikistan in advance about the implementation date of the visa regime for Tajik citizens. However, as of that day, Tajikistan had not received such information through diplomatic channels, as stated by the spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan, Shokhin Samadi.
