Foreign Ministers of CIS Countries Ensure Safety for Journalists and Announce Sports Capitals

Participants of the CIS Foreign Ministers Council meeting in Minsk have issued a joint statement on ensuring safe working conditions for journalists and protecting their rights. Representatives from Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan have also declared Ganja as the CIS Sports Capital for 2025 and Almaty for 2026.

Additionally, they have announced the establishment of CIS basic organizations for research on military security issues, as well as for training and retraining personnel for judicial systems. Foreign policy representatives have highlighted the implementation of a multi-level inter-ministerial consultation plan within the CIS framework and the activation program for partnerships between foreign policy bodies.

A statement was also made in honor of the 30th anniversary of the CIS being granted observer status at the UN General Assembly. Foreign Ministers have approved decisions to establish a unified commemorative medal "80 Years of Victory in the Great Patriotic War 1941-1945" for consideration by the heads of CIS states, as well as a draft Convention on the legal status of delegations sent to CIS member states.
