A meeting between the President of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, and the Prime Minister of Uzbekistan, Abdulla Aripov, on March 11 discussed a range of issues related to the current state and prospects of relations, cooperation, and partnership between the two countries. The Tajik president's press service reported that Aripov led the Uzbek delegation to participate in the regular session of the Intergovernmental Commission of the two countries on trade and economic cooperation.
During the meeting, the agenda of the session was discussed, and promising directions for economic cooperation were highlighted. Despite the growth in bilateral trade, which exceeded $504 million last year, both sides acknowledged the potential and resources for significantly increasing this figure. The focus was on expanding cooperation in industries, agriculture, energy, including the production of "green energy," and the development of a "green economy."
One of the main topics of discussion was the ways to enhance scientific, technical, cultural, and educational ties. The Uzbek Prime Minister emphasized that the open and trusting dialogue between the leaders of the two states is a crucial factor in strengthening the neighborly, strategic, partnership, and alliance relations between the two countries. He also underscored that the historical document adopted in June 2022 during the high-level meeting in Uzbekistan - the Declaration on Strengthening Eternal Friendship and Alliance, along with other important agreements, fully serve the interests of both nations.
