Legal Proceedings Update: Teenager Attacked While Walking Dog in Tashkent

in Crime / Uzbekistan - by

In December 2023, 18-year-old Dmitry Sattarov was attacked by a man during a walk with his dog in the Yunusabad district of Tashkent. The incident resulted in serious injuries for both parties, with Dmitry suffering spinal trauma, a fractured vertebra, and orbital contusion, while the man, identified as G.R., sustained injuries to his nose.

Legal action has been initiated based on G.R.'s complaint, with charges filed against him for causing grievous bodily harm with particular cruelty. Dmitry also faces charges for causing minor injuries resulting in temporary health issues or slight loss of work capacity.

The first court session took place at the Sattarovs' home on April 8, accommodating Dmitry's physical limitations. Subsequent hearings included requests from Dmitry's defense team to reassess the severity of his injuries.

During the second hearing on April 16 at the Yunusabad district court, the proceedings were open to the public, with media coverage present. Requests from Dmitry's side included audio-video recordings of the hearings, a review of his injury severity, witness identification, and a repeat medical examination.

While some requests were granted, such as calling a specific witness and recording the hearings, others were denied. The prosecutor objected to suspending the case until Dmitry's recovery, arguing that he is capable of participating in the process.

The next meeting for the legal proceedings is pending, with no set date announced yet. Participants await further developments in the case at the upcoming court session.
