A man who criticized women and their outfits at the Atlas Party event in Tashkent has been arrested for 15 days, as reported by the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Uzbekistan.
On April 20, the Zamonaviy Ayollar (Modern Women) club held a themed event called Atlas Party, featuring a display of national costumes with elements of atlas patterns.
Following the event, a video surfaced on social media of Dilmurad Mallaev making negative comments about women's outfits and expressing opinions that "humiliate the honor and dignity of women, discrediting them," according to a statement from the Committee on Family and Women.
The Committee condemned the man's actions and referred the matter to law enforcement agencies for legal assessment.
Later, Dilmurad Mallaev apologized for insulting women, saying, "I realize the consequences of my actions. God willing, I will not repeat this again. From now on, I will focus on my own affairs and businesses," he said.
The press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs stated that participants of the Atlas Party filed a complaint requesting law enforcement authorities to take legal action against the 36-year-old man.
On April 23, he was summoned to the Department of Internal Affairs of the Shaykhantakhur district, where he stated that his comments about women and their outfits were based on his personal religious beliefs.
The Shaykhantakhur District Court on Administrative Offenses found the man guilty under Article 183 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (petty hooliganism) and sentenced him to 15 days of arrest.
