Uzbekistan Citizen Detained in Altai Krai for Justifying Terrorism

The Rubtsovsk City Court in the Altai Krai region of Russia has ruled to detain a citizen of Uzbekistan on charges of justifying terrorism, as reported by the court's press service. The criminal case was initiated based on the man's public statements about the terrorist attack at the "Crocus City Hall" in Moscow on March 24, made in a store in Rubtsovsk.

The 31-year-old man, identified only by the initials A., was arrested on March 27 and charged under Article 205.2 Part 1 of the Russian Criminal Code (public calls for terrorism, its justification, or propaganda), with a maximum penalty of five years in prison.

According to the statement, the accused does not have a permanent place of residence or registration in Russia. The court ordered him to be held in custody for two months.

On March 22, several armed individuals stormed the concert hall "Crocus City Hall" in the Moscow region, opening fire and setting the building on fire. The venue was completely destroyed, resulting in the death of 143 people and over 360 injured. Eleven individuals were detained on suspicion of involvement in the attack, with the main suspects being Central Asian nationals.
