The State Security Service of Uzbekistan has prevented attempts to sell substandard medical drugs in the Samarkand and Fergana regions, as reported by the SGB press service.
A 35-year-old resident of Kokand was apprehended while trying to sell 2400 vials of the antibiotic "Ampicillin", 1600 packages of iron supplements "Infera" and "Ferrovell" in ampoules, and 125 packs of "Chorionic Gonadotropin" to pharmacies in Namangan. The total value of these items amounted to 121.8 million Uzbekistani som.
According to the conclusion of the Pharmaceutical Product Security Center under the Ministry of Health, these medicines are not registered in the state registry of medicinal products and do not have certificates of conformity. Therefore, their sale, transportation, and use in medical practice within Uzbekistan are prohibited.
The press release noted that in 2023, the man had already faced administrative penalties and fines under Article 165-1 of the Administrative Offenses Code for dealing with counterfeit or substandard medicines.
In another incident, a 25-year-old resident of the Pastdargom district in the Samarkand region was arrested for selling 3600 Chinese-manufactured drugs "S-Gen" (the antibiotic "Cefoperazone Sulbactam") for 46 million som with a fake certificate of conformity.
During the search at his residence, authorities found and confiscated 240 unguaranteed quality solutions for infusions of "Vivanarin" without the necessary documentation.
