The head of the Human Rights Society of Uzbekistan "Ezgulik," Abdurakhmon Tashanov, has revealed a disturbing incident involving a child in Samarkand. He shared a video from March 16 showing a boy chained by his legs inside a Damas car, with visible cuts between his fingers. The footage was reportedly taken on Ozod Shark Street in the Bogishamol district.

According to the human rights defender, when the police learned that the perpetrator was a former law enforcement officer, they coerced a statement claiming that the situation was not an act of violence. The boy, detained by the ex-officer, is currently held at the 4th department of the Samarkand police station, with his fate unknown. Meanwhile, the individual who abducted and abused the child remains at home.

The spokesperson for the General Prosecutor's Office of Uzbekistan, Khayot Shamsutdinov, announced that a criminal case has been opened under Article 138 of the Criminal Code (violent unlawful deprivation of liberty) in response to the incident. Law enforcement officers are conducting an investigation under the supervision of the prosecutor's office.
