According to the latest World Happiness Report released by the UN, Gallup, and the Oxford Research Center, Uzbekistan has secured the 47th spot globally in terms of happiness. The report, focusing on people's happiness levels across different age groups, ranks countries based on average scores from 2021 to 2023. Uzbekistan scored 6.196 out of 10, the highest in the CIS region, showing a significant improvement of 7 positions compared to the previous ranking.

Interestingly, older people in Uzbekistan reported feeling the happiest, while those aged 30 to 44 felt the least happy, contrary to trends in most countries where the youth tend to be happier than the elderly. Kazakhstan also made it to the top 50, ranking 49th among CIS countries, followed by Moldova and Russia at 71st and 72nd places respectively. Kyrgyzstan stood at 75th place, and Tajikistan at 88th.

Finland retained its title as the happiest country globally, with all five Nordic countries ranking in the top ten. Happiness levels have increased in Eastern European countries, notably in the Czech Republic, Lithuania, and Slovenia. On the other hand, the US and Germany dropped out of the top 20, landing at 23rd and 24th places. Afghanistan ranks at the bottom of the list, with Lebanon, Lesotho, Sierra Leone, and Congo also among the least happy nations.

The report indicates a significant rise in happiness levels across all age groups in Central and Eastern European countries. In East Asia, older people are becoming happier, while South Asia, the Middle East, and North Africa have seen a decline in happiness among all age groups. North America experienced the most significant drop in happiness levels among the youth.

In the former Soviet bloc, Armenia ranks 82nd, Azerbaijan 101st, Georgia 91st, Kazakhstan 49th, Kyrgyzstan 75th, Moldova 71st, Russia 72nd, Tajikistan 88th, and Ukraine 105th. Belarus and Turkmenistan data were not included in the report.
