The Criminal Court of the Khiva District in the Khorezm Region has issued a verdict to a man who caused a fatal traffic accident in mid-December. The incident, which resulted in the death of two twin boys, was reported by the press service of the Traffic Police Department of the Regional Internal Affairs Directorate.
The man, driving a Chevrolet Cobalt under the influence of alcohol at night, hit three minors on the 32nd kilometer of the Khiva-Yangiarik road. The two twin boys, Hasan and Husan, tragically lost their lives at the scene.
During the court hearing, the accused admitted to consuming alcohol at a wedding and driving home with a friend. After the accident, he left the scene without providing assistance to the injured children.
The man expressed remorse, admitted his guilt, and asked for forgiveness from the parents of the deceased children. The court found him guilty under Article 117 Part 1 (failure to assist a person in a life-threatening condition) and Article 266 Part 3 (violation of traffic safety rules resulting in human casualties) and sentenced him to 9 years and 1 month of imprisonment with a driving ban for 3 years.
