The Cultural and Arts Development Fund of Uzbekistan has urged the public to "get involved in the process of preserving the country's cultural heritage" by reporting the whereabouts of mosaics and panels on buildings that are in need of protection and preservation.
Photos and locations of the mosaics can be sent to the email address [email protected].
In late March, the government approved the inclusion of around 160 mosaic panels on buildings in Tashkent and regions of the country in the National Register of immovable objects of material cultural heritage.
The aim of expanding the registry is to comprehensively study and preserve mosaics, panels, and works of visual art, as well as to enhance their role in developing the country's tourism potential.
Previously, a significant number of mosaics were painted over, and many are currently covered by advertising banners.
