Investigation Launched into Woman Suspected of Running Underage Brothel in Karshinsky District

On March 5th, a criminal case was initiated in the Karshinsky district against a woman, G.N., suspected of running a brothel involving a minor (part 4 of article 131 of the Criminal Code). This information was shared by the press service of the children's ombudsman of Uzbekistan, Surayyo Rakhmonova.

The ombudsman's office received a complaint from a 16-year-old resident of the Pastdargom district in the Samarkand region. She stated that she had left home due to persecution and lack of understanding from her relatives.

According to the girl, an acquaintance took her to a house in the Karshinsky district of the Kashkadarya region, where the owner of the house forced her into prostitution. After some time, the girl managed to escape.

Upon the request of the children's ombudsman, the Internal Affairs Directorate of Kashkadarya conducted a preliminary investigation and initiated a criminal case.

The children's ombudsman stated that she would monitor the situation from the perspective of the child's interests.

The suspect in question faces five to eight years of imprisonment under the aforementioned article.
