The Children's Ombudsman of Uzbekistan, Surayo Rakhmonova, has addressed a disturbing video circulating on social media showing a school director physically assaulting two students. In the video, one of the boys is repeatedly hit on the head while the children cry.
The incident reportedly took place on January 13, 2023, in the Yakkabag district of the Kashkadarya region. The director of School No. 80, T.A., allegedly resorted to violence to "discipline" seventh graders A.K. and E.T. for being noisy and breaking a desk.
On March 9 of this year, the Yakkabag district police initiated a pre-investigation check into the director's actions. The Children's Ombudsman has vowed to monitor the situation closely, with further updates to be provided in due course.
