Kyrgyz Ex-MP Calls for Dismissal of Prosecutor General in Scathing Facebook Post

in Corruption / Kyrgyzstan - by

Former MP of the Jogorku Kenesh, Shayloobek Atazov, has addressed President Sadyr Japarov and the head of the State Committee for National Security (GKNB), Kamchybek Tashiev. The post was published on Atazov's Facebook page.

Shayloobek Atazov insists that it is necessary to dismiss the Prosecutor General, Kurmankul Zulushev. The former deputy refers to this as a "demand of the time." According to Atazov, "Zulushev has been tormenting ordinary people and destroying the lives of many families for 3.5 years."

The ex-deputy believes that Kurmankul Zulushev should be stripped of the title "General," stating that, "The Prosecutor General's Office illegally checks state enterprises and private entrepreneurs, causing many to close their businesses here and leave the country. State leaders are on the brink of explosion. Zulushev has turned into a monster." He further adds, "...in three and a half years since he (Zulushev) became the Prosecutor General, criminal cases have been unlawfully initiated against 900 people. This is playing with the health and destinies of people. However, no one has been held accountable. Zulushev ignored this due to his negligence."

"For many years, Zulushev received millions of dollars from Rayimbek Matraimov, calling him a blood brother and presenting him with 'ucha' (a dish presented to the most honored guest). He traveled to Dubai with several prosecutors and asked for expensive gifts. If there is a purge of personnel associated with Matraimov, it should start with Zulushev."

Additionally, Shayloobek Atazov accused Kurmankul Zulushev of interfering in the elections in Osh and Kara-Suu, participating in corrupt schemes, and having connections with Kamchi Kolbaev.

Furthermore, Atazov is displeased that "in Bishkek and Osh, where kok boru is held, he (Zulushev) forces the slaughter of a ram, sets up a yurt specifically for himself, and feels like a khan."

On May 8, the Central Election Commission stripped Shayloobek Atazov of his parliamentary mandate based on a decision of the Supreme Court of the Kyrgyz Republic. Shayloobek Atazov is considered to be associated with the Matraimovs. He worked as the head coach of the sports club RM, owned by Rayimbek Matraimov. Insiders claim that it was the Matraimovs who sponsored Shayloobek Atazov's election campaign.
