An inspector from the Special Tax Regimes Department of the Tax Service has been detained for extortion. The inspector used threats and intimidation to extort money from a local entrepreneur by threatening to conduct an audit.
According to the press center of the State Committee for National Security (GKNB), the inspector was caught red-handed receiving a $5,000 bribe in Kok-Zhar village in the Alamudin district of the Chui region. He has been placed in pre-trial detention. The GKNB is conducting further investigative activities to identify other officials involved in the extortion scheme.
