State reclaims $41.6 million land plot in park area amid corruption investigation

The State Committee for National Security (GKNB) announced the return of a land plot worth 41.6 million soms to the state. This comes in the context of a corruption case involving the Bishkek mayor's office.

The plot, measuring 0.072 hectares at the intersection of Togolok Moldo and Frunze streets, was illegally transferred to private ownership for the construction of entertainment facilities. The plot was originally part of Panfilov Park for public use and should not have been privatized. The illegal transfer of the land to its initial owner has been proven, with the land changing hands multiple times before being transferred back to municipal ownership. Its estimated value is 41,678,000 soms.

Investigative and operational measures are ongoing to identify those involved in the scheme. GKNB warns that efforts to uncover and prevent similar incidents are ongoing.
