The Supreme Court dismissed the lawyer's appeal, upholding the decision of the Bishkek City Court that found Ulan Uezbaev guilty of committing fraud. The court ruled that Uezbaev caused financial damage amounting to 2,655,000 soms to the victim.
Uezbaev was acquitted in a previous trial in July last year but was later convicted in a new trial in December. He was relieved of his position as the director of the transport department in January. Uezbaev was arrested in December 2021 for allegedly accepting a $45,000 bribe while serving as the deputy minister of transport and communications. Despite being placed under house arrest, he was acquitted in July 2023, a decision that was later overturned.
