Kyrgyzstan's President Sadyr Japarov recently led a working meeting focused on the reform and modernization of the state enterprise "Kyrgyzteploenergo" under the Ministry of Energy. During the meeting, the President was updated on the technical and economic aspects, as well as the achievements and upcoming plans for optimizing and reforming the enterprise. Energy Minister Taalaibek Ibraev provided information indicating that "Kyrgyzteploenergo" manages 160 boiler houses that supply heat to 53,226 subscribers nationwide, with 75% of them being residential customers.

It was highlighted that in 2023, after the consolidation of regional branches and improved operational efficiency, the enterprise recorded a net profit of approximately 111 million soms. Minister Ibraev also mentioned that due to the subsidized tariffs for the population, the state budget allocates around 2 billion soms annually to support the enterprise.

President Japarov expressed concerns about the persisting issue of corruption within the heating system. He emphasized the need to promptly review the operations of "Kyrgyzteploenergo," enhance the accountability of local government officials, and ensure the effective utilization of budgetary resources. Japarov stressed that the evaluation of mayors, akims, and presidential representatives in the regions should consider factors related to heating provision and the financial stability of heating facilities.

As a result, President Japarov instructed the implementation of a series of measures to improve the efficiency of the heating system and set a deadline for the cessation of subsidy payments.
