Four Matraimov Brothers Extradited to Kyrgyzstan

Four brothers - Raimbek, Iskender, Tilek, and Islam Matraimov - have been delivered to the State National Security Committee of Kyrgyzstan. Media reports, citing sources in law enforcement agencies, confirm the news.

Earlier, it was reported that a government plane flew to Baku today, where former deputy head of the Kyrgyzstan Customs Service Raimbek Matraimov and his brother Tilek were located. They have been extradited to Bishkek.

It is worth noting that on April 28, early elections for a deputy in the Osh, Batken, and Kara-Suu single-mandate electoral districts will take place. These positions became vacant after the Central Election Commission prematurely terminated the powers of Iskender Matraimov and other MPs.

Former deputy head of customs Raimbek Matraimov was in the capital of Azerbaijan, Baku, as reported earlier by the State National Security Committee's press center.

The State Committee has sent a letter to the Azerbaijani side regarding his detention and subsequent extradition to Kyrgyzstan.

It was revealed that Raimbek Matraimov is connected to members of a transnational criminal group from Azerbaijan who were detained in Kyrgyzstan, preparing an assassination attempt on Kyrgyzstan's leadership.

Raimbek Matraimov held the position of deputy head of the State Customs Service from 2015 to 2017. After a change in power in October 2020, he was accused of corruption in customs. The total damage caused by Raimbek Matraimov in just one criminal case amounted to 2 billion soms. He paid them off over two months, mostly in the form of property - a building and apartments. The former customs official admitted his guilt. The Pervomaisky District Court of Bishkek sentenced him to a fine of 260,000 soms.

On January 26, 2024, the State National Security Committee declared Raimbek Matraimov wanted. It was reported that in the fall, Raimbek Matraimov may have left Kyrgyzstan for Turkey, and then to Dubai.
