The Pervomaisky District Court has remanded Raiymbek Matraimov in pre-trial detention until April 26. He is facing charges under articles 169 (illegal deprivation of liberty) and 222 (money laundering). Investigative and operational measures are ongoing as part of the case materials.

Matraimov was extradited to Bishkek from Baku on March 26. The State Committee for National Security (GKNB) revealed his ties to members of a transnational criminal group from Azerbaijan, who were allegedly planning an assassination attempt on Kyrgyzstan's leadership.

Formerly serving as the Deputy Head of the State Customs Service from 2015 to 2017, Matraimov was implicated in corruption following a change in power in October 2020. The total damage caused by him in just one criminal case amounted to 2 billion soms. He paid off a significant portion of the sum in the form of property over two months, admitting his guilt. The Pervomaisky District Court in Bishkek imposed a fine of 260,000 soms on him.

On January 26, 2024, Matraimov was declared wanted by the GKNB. Reports suggested that he may have left Kyrgyzstan for Turkey in the autumn and then traveled to Dubai.
