Three Matraimov brothers - Tilek, Islambek, and Ruslan - have been placed in custody. This information was reported by the Osh Regional Court. According to the court, Islambek and Ruslan Matraimov, accused under Article 222 "Legalization (laundering) of proceeds from crime," have been remanded in custody until May 18. Tilek Matraimov is accused of abusing his official position (Article 337 of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic) and has been arrested until April 26.
It is worth noting that today, the Pervomaisky District Court of Bishkek placed Rayimbek Matraimov in pre-trial detention until April 26. He is facing criminal charges under Articles 169 "Illegal deprivation of liberty" and 222 "Legalization (laundering) of proceeds from crime."
On March 26, Rayimbek Matraimov was extradited to Bishkek from Baku. It was revealed that he was connected to members of a transnational criminal group from Azerbaijan detained in Kyrgyzstan, who were plotting an assassination attempt on the leadership of the Kyrgyz Republic, as stated by the State Committee for National Security (GKNB).
Rayimbek Matraimov held the position of Deputy Head of the State Customs Service from 2015 to 2017. Following a change in power in October 2020, he was accused of corruption in customs. The total damage caused by Rayimbek Matraimov in just one criminal case amounted to 2 billion soms. He paid them off over two months, mostly in the form of property - a building and apartments. The former customs official admitted his guilt and was fined 260,000 soms by the Pervomaisky District Court of Bishkek.
On January 26, 2024, the GKNB declared Rayimbek Matraimov wanted. It was reported that in the autumn, he may have left Kyrgyzstan for Turkey, and then to Dubai.
