Deputy Accuses Health Minister of Corruption and Ties to Organized Crime

in Corruption / Kyrgyzstan - by

During a Kyrgyz parliamentary session, a Parliament member accused the Health Minister of involvement in corruption and links to organized crime. The deputy outlined instances of alleged misconduct and financial irregularities, pointing to a significant rise in mortality rates in hospitals under the minister's tenure. Additionally, concerns were raised about the minister's accumulation of wealth, including luxury properties and vehicles.

These accusations have prompted calls for a thorough investigation, leading to the establishment of a parliamentary commission to scrutinize the minister's activities. In response, the Health Minister refuted the allegations, claiming that he provides medical aid to all patients regardless of their social standing. He dismissed the accusations as stemming from the deputy's personal grievances.
