The head of the President's Affairs and Cabinet of Ministers, Kanibek Tumanbaev, shared on his Facebook page that the "Jalal-Abad" sanatorium and "Osh" boarding house have been reclaimed by the state. He stressed that the new management of the sanatorium is entrusted with revitalizing the resort to meet modern standards.
Although the sanatorium is over a century old, it is in better shape compared to other properties owned by the Federation of Trade Unions of the Kyrgyz Republic. Plans are in motion to modernize the sanatorium by implementing digital systems and cashless payment options to deter theft.
Tumanbaev also disclosed that a portion of the land at the "Osh" boarding house had been illegally privatized by certain officials and former deputies, leading to a reduction in its size from 21.5 hectares to 17.68 hectares. Furthermore, a 2.8-hectare tourist base in Osh has been reverted to state ownership.
In a separate incident in the summer of 2023, the former director of the "Osh" boarding house, Mamatkarym Koichukulov, physically assaulted a journalist who questioned the legality of the resort's privatization. Despite video evidence capturing the altercation, the police closed the case due to insufficient proof of a criminal act.
