A police officer from the Patrol Service Department of the Bishkek City Police Department has been arrested on suspicion of extortion. The State Committee for National Security (SCNS) press center reported the incident.
According to the investigation, the officer allegedly demanded money in exchange for a favorable decision regarding the return of a driver's license and the release of a vehicle from impound. Previously, he had received $500. The officer was caught red-handed receiving $2,500 and has been placed in the temporary detention facility of the SCNS.
