A shocking incident unfolded in Kant, Kyrgyzstan, as lawyer Sherdor Abdykaparov revealed that the attackers who assaulted a police investigator were government officials. The lawyer shared a video of the incident on his Instagram account.
According to the lawyer, the investigator was on vacation when five men of Asian descent attacked him outside a store. The victim was severely beaten, resulting in a broken jaw and hospitalization. He is currently unable to speak.
Among the attackers identified by the lawyer were a military prosecutor, a tax officer, and a local government official. They allegedly attempted to bribe the victim to drop the criminal case.
In response, the Kant municipality's press service denied any involvement in the assault on the municipal employee. However, the Chui Region Interior Ministry reported that a police officer in Kant was indeed attacked, sustaining a broken jaw. A criminal case has been initiated under the charge of "Hooliganism" according to Kyrgyz law.
