Officials Detained in Kyrgyzstan for Involvement in Land Scams Worth 300 Million Som

In the Nooqat District of the Osh Region, several officials have been detained for their involvement in land scams amounting to 300 million som, as reported by the press center of the State Committee for National Security (GKNB).

According to the GKNB, a group of officials had been issuing land plots in the territory of the Zhany-Nooqat village district for an extended period of time.

The officials were found to have issued and processed land plots without proper transformation, which were later unlawfully provided to local residents for individual construction in the Zhany-Nooqat village district. In total, 41 hectares of land in the Zhany-Nooqat village district were unlawfully provided without transformation, issued based on forged resolutions. The total value of the plots amounts to around 300 million som, as stated in the announcement.

Charges have been brought against the former head of the Zhany-Nooqat village district, a land resource specialist of the said village district, the head of the department of the Nooqat district branch of the State Cadastre Agency, a leading specialist, a cartographer, and the head of the registration department.

All of the accused individuals have been placed in pre-trial detention at the GKNB until May 9th.
