The press center of the State Committee for National Security (SCNS) has reported that the Kerben Central Market, valued at 23 million som, has been returned to the state. It was revealed that a citizen of Kyrgyzstan was illegally using the market.

The market originally belonged to the city administration and in 2012, it was temporarily transferred to a citizen named B.M. for five years through a lease agreement. However, after the lease agreement expired, B.M. stopped paying rent and claimed to have a purchase agreement with a communal cooperative, leading to legal disputes with the local authorities.

Upon inspection, it was discovered that the central market, spanning 1.79 hectares, had been under the city administration's ownership since 2003. Following a pre-trial investigation, B.M. voluntarily returned the market to the municipality.

This event marks a significant step towards ensuring the proper use of public property and upholding the rule of law. It serves as a precedent for holding individuals accountable for the illegal possession of state assets, demonstrating a commitment to transparency and accountability in governance.
