Customs Terminal Transferred to State Ownership Amid Legal Violations

in Corruption / Kyrgyzstan - by

The Customs Terminal owned by LLC "Megacompany" is being transferred to the state, along with the land plots, as announced by the State Committee for National Security (SCNS).

The SCNS stated that videos circulating on social media regarding the terminal in the village of Joosh in the Kara-Suu district of the Osh region, which was previously owned by former MP JK Toktobubu Orgalcha, prompted the investigation.

Following a March inspection, it was revealed that the terminal was built in a water protection zone on the banks of the Taldyk River without the necessary permits. The leaseholder failed to carry out landscaping and improvement of the territory, as stipulated in the contract.

Land plots totaling 7.49 hectares have been transferred to the balance of the State Enterprise "Customs Infrastructure" under the State Customs Service, with an estimated value of over 520 million soms. The process of transferring the terminal itself, valued at an additional 54 million soms according to preliminary estimates, is currently underway.

The SCNS highlighted that during LLC "Megacompany's" use of the land, only a small amount was contributed to the budget in the form of tax payments. However, after the land was handed over to the state, the budget received 22,188,500 soms.
