in Corruption / Kyrgyzstan - by

The former head of the Sharkskiy aiyil okmotu of Kara-Suyskiy district in the Osh region of Kyrgyzstan, M.B.M., was detained by the State Committee for National Security (GKNB) when attempting to bribe an employee. The GKNB press center reported this incident.

In February, information was received regarding the illegal allocation of an agricultural land plot in the village of Achy by the former head. It was revealed that M.B.M. forged a resolution for the allocation of a non-transformed land plot and allocated a 10-hectare plot to a construction company.

During investigative measures to obtain a favorable decision for a pre-trial investigation, M.B.M. offered a bribe of $20,000 to a GKNB employee. Upon transferring half of the amount, he was detained under Article 345 Part 3 (bribery in a particularly large amount) of the Criminal Code of Kyrgyz Republic, as noted by the committee.

The Osh City Court ordered pre-trial detention for M.B.M. for a period of two months in the GKNB detention center.
