A university professor is suspected of illegally receiving payment, according to the Ministry of Internal Affairs press service.
A citizen of Uzbekistan approached the fourth department of the Main Directorate for Combating Organized Crime of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, reporting that in August 2023, an individual promising to help them enroll in a state university received $900 from a fellow villager. However, the student ended up enrolling in a private university instead. Subsequently, the student demanded the money back, but it was not returned.
The statement was registered with the Osh City Police Department. Based on the collected evidence, a criminal case has been initiated under Article 251 "Illegal Receipt of Payment by an Official" of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.
On March 6, 2024, a face-to-face confrontation between the applicant and the suspect was held in the investigator's office. During the meeting, the man returned part of the money - $600.
The suspect is the deputy dean of one of the faculties at Osh State University. The investigation is ongoing.
