Former Minister of Agriculture Erkinbek Choduev Detained for Corruption

The press center of the GKNB reported the detention of former Minister of Agriculture Erkinbek Choduev due to allegations of corruption and fraudulent activities. 

A criminal case has been initiated under Article 222 of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic for money laundering. Choduev, while serving as the executive director of the LLC "Cotton Corporation Limatex," illegally privatized company's land plots in the Osh and Jalal-Abad regions, totaling over 50 hectares, and sold them to private individuals. The preliminary damage is estimated at 500 million soms. 

Choduev has been detained and placed in the pre-trial detention center of the GKNB. The GKNB stated that efforts are underway to expose and hold other individuals involved in this corruption scheme accountable.
